The Wound Reconstruction Center offers comprehensive wound treatment options including both surgical and nonsurgical treatment for chronic, non-healing wounds related to:
- Bone infections
- Pressure ulcers
- Vascular disease
- Venous insufficiency
Peter Highlander, DPM, MS serves as the Medical Director for the Wound Reconstruction Center. Dr. Highlander received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. He offers advanced treatment and prevention options for lower extremity wounds with a special interest in deformity correction and soft tissue coverage for non-healing wounds.
Coleman Clougherty, DPM, MA offers advanced treatment of lower extremity wounds and specializes in treating complex lower limb conditions such as post-traumatic deformities. Dr. Clougherty focuses on limb salvage of the lower extremities and has extensive experience in muscle flap procedures. He also serves as a physician at the Cleveland Lower Extremity Specialists. Dr. Clougherty received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, Ohio, and completed is residency at Saint Vincent Charity Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
In August of 2019, The Wound Reconstruction Center and The Reconstruction Institute announced its Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Fellowship, a 12 month long program open to two graduating residents specializing in podiatric medicine and surgery. Now in its second year, the Fellowship is a full time position that includes extensive training in advanced techniques for foot and ankle surgery including 3D-printing for bone and joint replacement and deformity correction. The program also emphasizes training in plastic reconstructive techniques for wound coverage and nerve related pathologies.
Lance Johnson, DPM and Paul Leatham, DPM were accepted into the program on August 1, 2020.
Dr. Lance Johnson received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his podiatric medicine and surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Dr. Paul Leatham received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Midwestern University School of Podiatry and completed his podiatric medicine and surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Johnson and Dr. Leatham are currently practicing under the supervision of Dr. Peter Highlander and Dr. Coleman Clougherty at The Reconstruction Institute.
