The Bellevue Hospital offers expectant parents several opportunities throughout the year to prepare for the labor and birth of their child through Lamaze Childbirth Classes. While many hospitals offer education classes, The Bellevue Hospital has on staff the only two Lamaze Certified Instructors within a 50 mile radius. Cherri Wilson RN, IBCLC, LCCE and Holly Bollenbacher RN, BSN, CLC, LCCE are specifically trained and certified by Lamaze International to help prepare new parents for a positive birth experience.
Relaxation, breathing and comfort techniques will be explored and practiced during class. Information on anatomy, signs of labor, medications, cesarean births and coaches in the labor process will also be discussed. The mother will learn how she can have an active roll in her care and be able to make informed decisions during her labor process. A tour of the family birthing center will give expectant parents a chance to become familiar with the center and ask questions.
Lamaze Childbirth Classes are held on 3 consecutive Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. or two consecutive Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Classes are held in The Bellevue Hospital's Burson Rooms A and B. It is recommended to attend a complete series of classes to learn all the information that is provided. The cost of the session is $30.
