Sleep To Safe Education

The Bellevue Hospital participates in the Safe to Sleep® campaign, led by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). The campaign was created to educate parents and caregivers about ways to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Research indicates that placing an infant on his or her back to sleep is the most effective way to reduce the risk of SIDS. In 2012, the NICHD and its partners expanded Back to Sleep into the Safe to Sleep® campaign to address not only ways to reduce the risk of SIDS, but also ways to reduce the risk of other sleep-related causes of infant death and to improve infant health.
