Pregnancy Partners

As the expected due date draws closer, parents are excited and full of questions.  The Bellevue Hospital's Pregnancy Partners program offers preparation and education to mothers and fathers for the arrival of their little bundles of joy while offering individual time to ask questions, fill out paperwork and start the parent education process.

When the mother-to-be is between 36 and 37 weeks pregnant, please call The Bellevue Hospital's Family Birthing Center and schedule an appointment where information about delivery, breastfeeding, care of the newborn and follow-up care will be discussed.  The appointment is approximately 90 minutes in length and admission paperwork will be completed.  Education and pre-admission information for mothers who are planning a cesarean birth will also be completed.

Other topics covered during Pregnancy Partners are the baby's hearing and screening form, how to properly complete the official birth certificate, names of physicians currently taking new pediatric patients (if the family does not already have a physician), care for the mother, care for the baby, post surgical care (if applicable), hospital discharge procedures, safe sleep initiatives, breastfeeding and bottle feeding, general questions and answers about the delivery process and postpartum care.  A mother's handbook and teaching folder are all sent home with the mothers so that they can go over the material again in the comfort of their own home.

Physician offices should provide a reminder for your Pregancy Partner appointment at 36 weeks.  Mothers should call The Family Birthing Center during regular business hours to schedule an appointment.
