TBH Donates AED devices to the Bellevue Society for the Arts and to Bellevue High School

In the tradition of keeping "Quality Care, Close to Home," The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) recently donated two different automated external defibrillator (AED) devices to the Bellevue Society for the Arts (BSA), and to Bellevue High School (BHS).

Michael K. Winthrop, President and CEO of TBH, is shown with the wall-mounted AED at the BSA. An AED by definition is a "portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias, and is able to treat them through defibrillation."

"With many events and plays being held at the BSA - including our TBH-sponsored monthly Mature Audience Luncheon - it made sense for us to help the BSA establish a way to administer cardiac care in the time First Responders have yet to arrive on scene," noted Winthrop. "This gives those hosting events at the BSA an extra layer of security."

The AED donated to BHS is a portable unit, allowing Licensed Athletic Trainer Laura Manning the ability to take the device with her between sports venues. "This is particularly important during spring sports season when tennis, track and field, softball, and baseball events are all happening outside the high school at the same time and all of the previously donated AED's are wall-mounted units inside the school," added Winthrop.
