The Bellevue Hospital’s (TBH) Family Birthing Center (FBC) welcomed the first baby of 2022 on New Year’s Day.

Leighanne Everhart weighed in at 4-pounds, 14-ounces and was 17-inches in length. She was delivered by Gregory Karasik, M.D. at 11:38 a.m. on Jan. 1. She is the daughter of Breanna Everhart of Fremont.

“I was induced on Jan. 1 and Leighanne was born nearly six hours later," said Breanna. "Having the New Year's baby wasn't even on my mind. The nurses told me that I would be having the first baby born at the hospital in 2022. I was very surprised!"

Leighanne joins one other sibling, big brother Sebastian Everhart-Green, age four.

"My son was more excited about becoming a big brother than he was for Christmas," said Breanna.

Leighanne and her mom received many gifts from local and area businesses for being the first baby of 2022, including $200 from the hospital, and gifts from the hospital Gift Shop and TBH Foundation.

The family also received various gifts from local merchants, including Forget-Me-Not Flowers & Gifts, Anytime Fitness, First National Bank of Bellevue and the Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce.

Maternal grandparents are Norman and Barbara Everhart of Fremont.
