Nearly 19 million Americans have diabetes according to the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Further, the ADA indicates that seven million Americans are undiagnosed and 79 million are pre-diabetic. For those who are newly diagnosed, those who are diabetic and need a refresher course, and those who are pre-diabetic, The Bellevue Hospital offers ongoing diabetes education opportunities.
This program is free and open to the public and may include a variety of topics including: successful diabetes management, meal planning and carbohydrate counting, making smart choices when dining, and more. Diabetes education programs at TBH are presented by a certified diabetes educator, and often a registered dietician.
