The A. Schulman Inc. team shot a 12-under-par 59 to take Open Flight honors in the The Bellevue Hospital Auxiliary’s 25th Annual Golf Outing, held on Sunday, July 17 at Green Hills Golf Course, Clyde. The event raised over $18,000 for the hospital auxiliary’s charitable projects.

Members of the winning team were Gary Woodruff, Mick Dwyer, Bob Haffey, and Jim Hartzell.

The Sanchez Team team shot a 9-under-par 62 to win the Mixed Flight Division. Members of the foursome were Lee Sanchez, Humbert Sanchez, Bonnie Ball, and Brian Bohn.

"Everyone involved has worked very hard to make this outing a success. JoAnn (Ventura) and I would like to thank the participants, contributors, and volunteers for their continued support and loyalty to this outing,” said Kathy Scheid, co-chairperson.

 “We would also like to thank Tom, Joanne and Heidi Crockett and their staff at Green Hills for their efforts keeping the course in great shape and making sure everyone has a great time.”

"This was the 13th year that Kathy and I have been in charge of the golf outing and during that time, over $226,000 has benefited our hospital, community members, and most importantly, our patients," added Ventura.

The 136 golfers started the day by taking part in putting and chipping contests, and practicing at the driving range. The shotgun start then sent the golfers on their way for the field prizes and hole-in-one competitions.

When the scorecards were turned in at the "19th" refreshment hole, winners of the open and mixed divisions and field contests were determined. Prizes were awarded during the dinner to the following winners:

Open Division: First place (59) – A. Schulman Inc. team of Gary Woodruff, Mick Dwyer, Bob Haffey, and Jim Hartzell. Second place (60) – Firelands Regional Medical Center team of John Bacon, Bryan Kuns, Brett Kuns, and Andrew Kuns. Third place (61) – Ball Medical team of Kyle Ball, Ben Ball, Ted Ball, and Dave Ball.

Mixed Division: First place, (62) – Sanchez Team of Lee Sanchez, Humbert Sanchez, Bonnie Ball, and Brian Bohn. Second place (63) – Memorial Hospital team of Philip Edgar, Luke Edgar, Tom Hoff, and Lori Hoff. Third place (64) – Myers/Nicely Builders team of Bill Myers, Deb Myers, Ken Gerhardstein, and Chuck Baptista.

Field Prize Winners: Closest to pin 2nd shot winners – Gary Stair, Heather Welch, and Kyle Woodruff. Longest putt winners – Greg Barth, Brett Barth, Gina Vincent, Jim Gottfried, Gary Woodruff, and Bob Haffey. Closest to pin from the tee – Greg Barth. Longest drive winners – Dave Ball, Lori Hoff (twice), and Ric Harrah.

Putting Contest Winner: Gene Michel.

Chipping Contest Winner: Ted Ball.
