Plastic Surgeon atTHE BELLEVUE HOSPITALMarch 27, 2006 --
Teresa H. Ghazoul, M.D., F.A.C.S., a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, has returned to her native Ohio and will bring her plastic surgery skills to The Bellevue Hospital medical staff. In addition, Dr. Ghazoul will have an office in Norwalk while also joining the medical staff of Fisher-Titus Medical Center. Born in Youngstown and raised in Wilmington, Dr. Ghazoul lived in Ohio until 2000, when she and her husband, John, and their four young children, moved to the Southwest. In 2004, the family moved near Beverly Hills, California, where Teresa was recruited to be the Chief of Plastic Surgery for the largest aesthetic plastic surgery group nationally, overseeing 14 surgeons in seven California state-accredited surgery centers. But the Beverly Hills life turned out to be a not-so-glamorous place to raise their young children, leading the Ghazouls to return to their Ohio roots. “California is a beautiful state with lots to do and great weather, but it was difficult for us to live there and raise our family,” said Dr. Ghazoul. "The cost of living is high and the lifestyle is very different, and just trying to take a Sunday drive with the kids could turn into a complete traffic standstill for hours on a six-lane highway. John was traveling to Ohio for business on a monthly basis so it made the decision to move back even easier. My husband and I felt that Ohio was a better place to raise the kids, and we are definitely more comfortable here.” Dr. Ghazoul is board certified in aesthetic (cosmetic) and plastic surgery, and in general surgery. She is also skilled in hand surgery. “The aesthetic aspect of what I do would include facelifts, eyelid procedures, breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks, laser resurfacing, acne treatments, photofacials, permanent hair removal, leg veins, pigmented lesions and collagen, restylane and botox injections – types of procedures not normally covered by insurances. “The plastic surgery aspect would be procedures such as breast reconstruction, skin cancer, scar revision, otoplasty (pinning back of the ears), wound treatments, and difficult wound reconstruction – procedures normally covered by insurances,” explained Dr. Ghazoul. Dr. Ghazoul received her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Wright State University, and her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. She knew from an early age that medicine would be a part of her life ambition. “I decided when I was about five-years-old that I wanted to become a doctor,” recalled Dr. Ghazoul. “My mom was a nurse and she would always share stories about her occupation, and I think that is where I got my interest in medicine. From that point, I made medicine a part of my life – volunteering as a Candy Striper, taking first aid classes, receiving EMT training, and volunteering for disaster training. “When I attended Wright State, I decided to major in biomedical engineering to further my training for medical school. Once I was in medical school, I was hooked on surgery, especially after doing one of my clinical rounds with the surgical department. I thought ‘This is for me, something that is hands-on.’ Then, I had the opportunity to do some plastic surgery, and it was just fascinating to me.” After her residency was completed in 1993, Dr. Ghazoul worked in Ohio as a plastic surgeon in a multi-specialty group practice. She remained there until 2000 when the family moved west. “The decision to relocate to this area of Ohio was very easy after meeting Mike Winthrop and Marv Rettig at The Bellevue Hospital. They were great to work with and very accommodating as we were finalizing our plans. The hospital is state-of-the-art and the hospital staff is excellent. The physicians that I've met have been very supportive as I've transitioned to the area. My husband and I made the decision in the fall of 2005 and told our families during Thanksgiving, and now, here we are!” Finalized Dr. Ghazoul, “I love doing something positive for people. Plastic surgery can bring about dramatic results and the patients are very appreciative. That is what makes this occupation great for me.” Dr. Ghazoul is currently accepting patients at her Bellevue and Norwalk locations. At TBH, she will be seeing patients in the Specialty Care Services Area. Appointments can be made by phoning 419.483.4040, Ext. 4405 or 866.811.8008. |
