Infant Massage Class
at
The Bellevue Hospital
The Infant Massage class assists new or expectant parents in
learning massage for newborns.
Parents of children ages newborn to six months will learn the
philosophy and value of the nurturing touch and how to perform
this simple, relaxing massage on their babies.
The class will teach people how to touch their newborns in a
nurturing, gentle way that not only satisfies that baby’s need for
touch, but will also help the parent begin to communicate with the
child.
Other benefits of massage include better digestion of feedings
which help the baby gain weight easier and grow at a faster pace;
stimulating the nervous system to help build muscle tone;
improving circulation; and a calming effect leading to deeper,
more restful sleep.
Classes for parents with new babies and expectant parents will be limited to four
families and are held from 6-7:00 p.m.
The Participants in the class for expectant parents will need to bring a doll for classroom practice.
Class fee is $5.
The class meets in The Bellevue Hospital's Burson Conference Room
