First Baby Born 2005

at The Bellevue Hospital

January 3, 2005--

Even though The Bellevue Hospital’s first baby of 2005 arrived three days after the new year began, he was still right on time.

(Tracy, Baby Mitchell, Gail, and Callie Rosser)

That is because Mitchell Allen Rosser was born right on his due date of Jan. 3, 2005. He is the son of Gail and Tracy Rosser, Republic, and the little brother of his big sister, Callie, 2, who was also born at The Bellevue Hospital in the same room as her brother.

Mitchell was delivered by certified nurse midwife Kathy Fries at 1 p.m. on Jan. 3. He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 21 1/2 inches in length.

Maternal grandparents are David and Martha Tansey, Wakeman. Paternal grandparents are John and Peg Rosser, Risingsun.

Even though the hospital’s Family Birthing Center was a happening place in the days leading up to New Year’s Day, all expectant mothers delivered before midnight on Dec. 31st. There were four babies born on Dec. 29, three more on Dec. 30, and two more on Dec. 31, then none until Mitchell arrived on Jan. 3.

In recognition of being the first baby born at The Bellevue Hospital in 2005, he will receive a $200 savings bond from the hospital, a free rental car seat from the Kiwanis Club of Bellevue, a free infant massage class from TBH, and a hand-crafted baby book from the hospital Gift Shop.

(Ron Smith, lieutenant governor, Kiwanis Club of Bellevue; Karen Gehring, The Bellevue Hospital Gift Shop; Michael K. Winthrop, President and CEO of The Bellevue Hospital; Jess Caniff, BSN, RN, The Bellevue Hospital.)

Gifts from Bellevue area merchants include a gift card from ACE Hardware; one dozen roses from Schindley’s Flower Shop; a case of baby food from Hogue’s IGA; one case of diapers from Bassett’s Market; a one hour massage for mom from Melissa Warner, LMT; a gift certificate from McClain’s Restaurant; one free oil change and lube from Dendinger Brothers; $50 savings bond from First National Bank; one free child portrait sitting and free 8x10 from Woodard Photographic; six month subscription from The Bellevue Gazette; three months free membership to Curves; baby gift from Pamida; massage, haircut and style, and manicure from Sass Salon and Spa; and a $25 savings account from Croghan Colonial Bank.
