LICENSED SONOGRAPHER
July 3, 2006

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has
announced that Laurie Stimmel, RT(R), (CT), RDMS, has
recently become a registered diagnostic medical
sonographer.
An employee in TBH’s Radiology
Department, Stimmel earned the degree in obstetrics
and gynecology sonography from The American Registry
for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Stimmel completed her coursework at Owens Community
College, Toledo, and her clinical training at TBH
before becoming registered as a medical sonographer.
She is also registered as a radiographer and CT Scan
technologist.
Stimmel has been employed with TBH for the past six
years. She and her husband, Brian, reside in Bayview.
They are parents of two children.

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has
announced that Alan Ganci, executive vice president,
has been awarded the 2006 Founder's Medal of Honor
from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
The award was presented to Ganci in
March at the regular meeting of the Northwest Ohio
(Toledo) Chapter of HFMA.
Recipients must be members in good
standing, have a minimum of three years service, and
have provided significant service at the chapter or
national level for two years.
The Founder's Medal of Honor is the highest honor
awarded through the local HFMA chapter.
Only three other members of the
Northwest Ohio Chapter have previously been honored
with this distinction.
The medal is based on the evaluation
and judgment of the national HFMA board on a
recommendation from chapter members.
Ganci has been a member of HFMA for the past 26 years.
He previously served on the board of directors and as
president. He also served as Region 6 Chapter Liaison
Resource for Ohio and Michigan, was on the National
Advisory Board, and has been a judge for the Yeager
National Chapter Award for the past seven years.
There are four chapters of the HFMA located in Ohio,
and over 35,000 members nationwide.
Ganci has been employed with TBH for the past 13
years. He and his wife, Deborah, reside in Huron.

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has
announced that Holly Spero, MLT, ASCP, has earned her
Bachelor of Science degree in Technology.
Spero earned the degree from the College of Technology
at Bowling Green State University.
At TBH, Spero is employed in the Laboratory where her
duties include blood draws, working in the blood bank,
microbiology, chemistry, and hematology.
Spero has been employed with TBH for the past 18
years. She and her husband, Bryan, reside in Bellevue.
They are parents of one child.

TBH EMPLOYEE EARNS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has
announced that Deborah Shock, RPT, AMT, will receive
the 2005 Distinguished Achievement Award from the
American Medical Technologists (AMT).
The award is given by the AMT Board of Directors and
by a vote of peers within the AMT.
The award will be presented during the
AMT Awards Ceremony and 68th annual meeting in
education program, June 26 to July 1, 2006, in Reno,
Nevada.
Shock is a phlebotomist with TBH’s Lab Department. She
is responsible for blood work drawing for departments
including outpatient, Emergency Department,
medical/surgical, Intensive Care, ambulatory care,
Family Birthing Center, and the Lab.
She also does drug screens and breath
alcohol testing, and, through the hospital’s preceptor
program, trains phlebotomy students and new employees.
Shock has been employed with TBH for the past 12
years. She and her husband, Dennis, reside in Clyde.
They are parents of two children.

TWO TBH EMPLOYEE EARN CERTIFICATIONS

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has
announced that Angie Wise, RN, and Jennifer Seamon,
RN, have received certification as RN First
Assistants.
The certification will allow the nurses to assist
during surgery.
The two TBH employees completed a week long course in
Las Vegas, which is followed by one year of further
self-study.
Wise has been employed with TBH for the past 15 years.
She and her husband, Jerry, reside in Clyde. They are
parents of three children.
Seamon has been employed with TBH for the past 13
years. She and her husband, Daniel, reside in
Bellevue. They are parents of two children.

CERTIFICATIONS
April 3, 2006

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has
announced that Susan O'Lynn, CPCS, CPMSM, has earned
two certifications related to her position as Medical
Staff Coordinator at TBH.
O'Lynn was re-certified as a Provider Credentialing
Specialist from the National Association of Medical
Staff Services (NAMSS). The certification runs through
2007.
O'Lynn also earned a new certification as a Certified
Professional in Medical Services Management, also
given through NAMSS.
At TBH, O'Lynn's responsibilities include verifying
physician training and competencies for credentialing
purposes.
O'Lynn has been employed with TBH for the past 21
years. She and her husband, P.J., reside in Bellevue.
They are parents of two children, Sheena and Derrick.

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that
Gretchen Franklin, MSW, has earned her licensure as an
Independent Social Worker.
An
employee in TBH's Social Services and Home Health
Departments, Franklin received her license from the State of
Ohio, Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family
Therapist Board.
Franklin has been employed with TBH for the past 13 years.
She and her husband, Reed, reside in Tiffin. They are
parents of three children.

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has
announced that Laurie Erf, R.N., has earned her
associate of science in nursing degree.
An employee in TBH’s Medical/Surgical Department, Erf
graduated from Excelsior College, with an Associate of
Science degree in nursing. Excelsior College is a
member of The University of the State of New York.
Erf completed her clinical work in Columbus, OH, and
took and passed her boards in Westlake, OH in early
March.
Erf has been employed with TBH for the past four
years. She and her husband, Kevin, reside in Bellevue.
They are parents of a daughter, LeAnn

Loveetta Johnson, C.N.A.,
receives Phlebotomy Certification

The
Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that Loveetta
Johnson, C.N.A., has achieved her certification in
phlebotomy (blood drawing).
The
certification was earned through the EHOVE Ghrist Adult
Career Center after Johnson completed 600 hours of course
work.
Johnson is employed at TBH in the Medical/Surgical
Department and in the hospital’s Lab.
Johnson has been employed at TBH for the past six years. She
and her husband, Troy, are parents of three children. They
reside in Clyde.

Connie Powell is a Certified Lactation
Consultant

The
Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that Connie
Powell, R.N., with TBH’s Family Birthing Center, has
completed the requirements set forth and has passed
the examination to become an International Board
Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
The
IBCLC protects, promotes and supports the breastfeeding of
babies worldwide.
The
certification is good for five years and is renewable by
recertification.
Powell is also the only licensed Lamaze Certified Childbirth
Educator at TBH and is one of only a handful of Lamaze
Childbirth Educators in northern Ohio.
Powell has been employed at TBH for the past 30 years. She
and her husband, John, reside in Republic.

Pam Dymond Earns Nursing Degree
January
5, 2006
The
Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that Pamela
Dymond, R.N., has recently earned a nursing degree and
a nursing certification.
An
employee in TBH’s Emergency Department, Dymond graduated
from Bowling Green State University/Medical University of
Ohio School of Nursing, with a Bachelor of Science degree in
nursing.
Dymond then completed and passed her certification
examination for emergency nurses, given by the Board of
Certification for Emergency Nursing.
Several emergency topics were presented on the test,
including cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, obstetrical,
optical, orthopedic, neurological, psycho/social,
respiratory, and shock/trauma.
Dymond has been employed with TBH for the past five years.
She and her husband, Tim, reside in Bellevue. They are
parents of three children.

EMERGENCY NURSING CREDENTIALS
December, 2005
The
Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that employees
Ruth Fries, RN, CEN (Left), and Michelle Garcia, RN,
CEN (Right), have each attained a nationally
recognized credential in emergency nursing.
Each recently passed the Certified
Emergency Nurse (CEN) examination administered by the
Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing.
The CEN credential represents a commitment of these
nurses, as well as TBH’s Emergency Department, to
quality state-of-the-art emergency care. Emergency
nursing incorporates a wide spectrum of patient care
that requires highly specialized skills and extensive
knowledge, as well as the unique ability to care for
all ages of patients who have illnesses or injuries
ranging from the very minor to extremely critical.
The CEN examination also evaluates the nurse’s
knowledge in the areas of clinical pathophysiology,
patient care management, and professional issues,
environment, toxicology, shock, trauma, and medical
emergency care.
Fries received her Registered Nurse Degree from the
Toledo Hospital School of Nursing. She has been
employed at TBH for 19 years and is currently the ER
coordinator. She and her husband, Greg, reside in
Bellevue. They have three grown children.
Garcia received her Registered Nurse Degree from the
Providence School of Nursing in Sandusky. She has been
employed at TBH for six years and is currently an ER
staff nurse and nursing supervisor. She and her
husband, Eloy, reside in Bellevue and have two
children.

ADMINISTRATION DEGREE

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced
that Rachel Herman has earned her Bachelor of Science
Degree in Business Administration from Ashland
University. Herman majored in accounting at Ashland.
She was promoted to Director of Finance at TBH in
December of 2003.
Herman has been employed with TBH for the past 25
years. She and her husband, Roger, reside in Bellevue.
They are parents of three children.

DIABETES EDUCATOR CERTIFICATION
March 28, 2005
Patricia
Keller-Clark, Registered & Licensed Dietician at The
Bellevue Hospital, recently completed her
certification to become a Certified Diabetes Educator
(CDE).
The certification process took place in Cleveland and
was overseen by the National Certification Board for
Diabetes Educators.
Keller-Clark is now certified to work with patients in
diabetes and nutrition counseling and education.
A resident of Sandusky, Keller-Clark has been employed
with TBH for the past eight years.

CERTIFICATION IN FETAL MONITORING
March 23, 2005

The
Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that Laurie
Williams RN, BSN, has become certified in Electronic
Fetal Monitoring after completing all requirements and
testing offered by the Fetal Monitoring Professional
Education Center.
Williams completed the course in San Antonio, Texas by
attending the two-day Advanced Fetal Monitoring class
and then passing the certification exam. The
certification is valid for two years
A member of the TBH Family Birthing Center team,
Williams has worked for TBH for the past 13 years. She
resides in Clyde with her husband, Roger, and their
two daughters.

BUSINESS BRIEFS: TBH EMPLOYEE EARNS LAMAZE
EDUCATOR CERTIFICATION
March 23, 2005
The
Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that Connie Powell,
RNC, BSN, LCCE, has earned a Lamaze Certified Childbirth
Educator (LCCE) designation after successfully completing
the LCCE certification course.
Powell completed a rigorous training course and testing
to earn her certification.
The course was offered by the Lamaze International
Certification Council. Their mission is to provide
competent, highly qualified childbirth educators who work as
advocates for childbearing women. LCCE’s work to promote,
support and protect normal birth through education and
advocacy.
Powell is the only licensed LCCE at TBH and is one of only a
handful of Lamaze Childbirth Educators in northern Ohio.
Powell, a member of The Bellevue Hospital’s Family Birthing
Center team, has worked at TBH for the past 29 years. She
and her husband, John, reside in Republic.
