BUSINESS BRIEFS: TBH EMPLOYEE COMPLETES MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM
December 1, 2004

Lisa Aichholz, APRN, BC, a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit of The Bellevue Hospital, has received her Masters of Science in Nursing Degree, and has been certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
 

She received her master’s degree from the Medical College of Ohio, located in Toledo, where she also received the Graduate Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.


Aichholz received her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and its Commission on Certification Grants.

They are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and the American Board of Nursing Specialites.
 

A resident of New Washington, Lisa and her husband, David, have two children, Madison and Max. She has been employed with TBH for the past nine years.

BUSINESS BRIEFS: TBH EMPLOYEE COMPLETES COMPUTER CERTIFICATION
December 1, 2004

Deborah Freeman, an employee in the Finance Department of The Bellevue Hospital, has successfully completed the CompTIA A+ computer certification exam.


As a CompTIA A+ certified professional, Freeman has demonstrated proficiency in operating systems fundamentals, installation, configuration and upgrading, diagnosing and troubleshooting, and networks.

She also received training and certification in preventative computer maintenance, printers, and computer processors, memory, and motherboards.


CompTIA certifications are funded, developed and governed by industry leaders and meet the highest standards of certification testing. For more than 20 years, CompTIA has provided research, networking and partnering opportunities to its members.


A resident of Bellevue, Deb and her husband, Jack, have two daughters, Dana and Lisa. She has been employed with TBH for the past 10 years.

BUSINESS BRIEFS: TBH EMPLOYEE COMPLETES RESPIRATORY PROTECTION WORKSHOP

November 4, 2004

Maggie Andrews, RMA, with The Bellevue Hospital’s Occupational Health Department, recently completed a Respiratory Protection and Fit Testing Workshop offered by the University of Cincinnati’s Center for Occupational Health and Occupational Pulmonary Services Department.


Participants were instructed on respiratory protection standards and guidelines by Roy T. McKay, Ph.D., Director of Occupational Pulmonary Services at the University of Cincinnati.


The three-day course provided a practical overview of respirators, standards, guidelines, use, limitations, and changes to the OSHA Respirator Standard. Fit testing requirements and basic types of fit testing methods were also explained.


A resident of Bellevue, Andrews has two children, five stepchildren, 11 grandchildren, and has been employed with TBH for four years.
 

BUSINESS BRIEFS: TBH EMPLOYEES COMPLETE LACTATION COUNSELOR TRAINING

November 2, 2004

employees with The Bellevue Hospital’s Family Birthing Center,

recently completed a Lactation Counselor Certification Training Program.

Both are now Certified Lactation Consultants (CLC’s).


The five-day course and exam was held in Canton, OH, and was sponsored by The Center for Breastfeeding, a focus of the Healthy Children Project, Inc., a non-profit research and educational institution headquartered in Massachusetts.
Participants learned about breastfeeding, and difficulties that may be associated with lactation, including thrush and mastitis.
 

A resident of Bellevue, Felder and her husband, Tom, are parents of four children. She has been employed with The Bellevue Hospital for 23 years.


A resident of Green Springs, Sampsel and her husband, Dan, are parents of two children. She has been employed with The Bellevue Hospital for three years.
 

BUSINESS BRIEFS: TBH EMPLOYEES COMPLETE EHOVE IV THERAPY COURSE
August 27, 2004

Ten staff members of The Bellevue Hospital’s Medical/Surgical Department recently completed an Intravenous Therapy (IV) Certification for Nurses Course at the EHOVE Ghrist Adult Career Center.
Sheri Ammanniti, LPN, Dorene Frost, LPN, Joyce Halcomb, LPN, Carrie Mason, LPN, Amy Patten, LPN, Anne Pocock, LPN, Karen Langley, LPN, Laurie Erf, LPN, Robin Good, LPN, and Annabell Swint, LPN, all completed the 10-week course and are now certified in IV Therapy.
As a result of passing the course, the nurses are now certified to start IV’s on adult patients and hang antibiotics as prescribed.
The course followed the Ohio Board of Nursing regulations for certification of IV Therapy.

Mindy (Cleveland) Raymond, PA-C

HOMETOWN GIRL JOINS THE BELLEVUE HOSPITAL’S ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS STAFF - January 14, 2004


A local resident and 1997 graduate of Bellevue Senior High School has joined The Bellevue Hospital staff as an Allied Health Professional.
Mindy (Cleveland) Raymond, PA-C, daughter of Keith and Christine Cleveland, is also working as a physician assistant with Drs. Alda, Hemeyer, and Knight at their office location of 521 N. Sandusky St., and with Andrew Huddleston, D.O..


As an Allied Health Professional with The Bellevue Hospital, Raymond has full patient privileges working as a Certified Physician Assistant.


Raymond earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical science from Bowling Green State University, and a master of science degree in physician assistant studies from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo.

She passed her board exam in October and is now certified by the National Certifying Commission for Physician Assistants.
“Instead of becoming a doctor by title and going to school for such a long time, I decided to become a physician assistant,” explained Raymond. “I also wanted to get married and start a family, so this was a good fit.”


Continued Raymond, “My areas of expertise will focus on babies and young children, women’s health issues, acute care, and follow-up care. I can assist physicians in providing better healthcare to patients and decrease wait time. I will handle routine office visits, rounds, and nursing home visits, so the physician is freed to manage more complex cases. I can also see walk-ins, urgent care cases, and routine follow-up visits such as well-child care, diabetes care, and hypertension management.”


Raymond started full-time in late November, working with Drs. Alda, Knight, and Hemeyer at the Sandusky Street location, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and with Dr. Huddleston on Tuesdays at his Clyde office location, and she performs nursing home visits on a weekly basis For information about scheduling appointments, contact Raymond at (419) 483-6267, 521 N. Carolyn Bing-Nieset
TBH EMPLOYEE EARNS POST-GRADUATE HONOR - January 12, 2004

The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Carolyn Bing-Nieset completed a three-year post-graduate training program at the Gestalt Institute of Central Ohio in Columbus on Dec. 9, 2003.


A counselor in The Bellevue Hospital’s Health Counseling Services Department, Bing-Nieset’s post-graduate training program emphasized counseling theory, counseling techniques, interviewing techniques, clinical psychopathology, personality, abnormal behavior, and social work counseling theory.


Bing-Nieset’s areas of expertise include counseling for anxiety, depression, panic disorders, mood depression, relationship issues, and personality disorders. Her client population is age 18 and over.


A resident of Fremont, Bing-Nieset has been employed with The Bellevue Hospital for over 10 years.

Kim Stults, RN, MS
RECEIVES MASTERS DEGREE IN NURSING - November 20, 2003

The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Education Department Manager Kimberly J. Stults recently received her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, July 31, 2003.


Coursework included classes in hospital management, hospital education, and curriculum development.
Stults is in charge of staff development and education at The Bellevue Hospital.


A resident of Bellevue, Kim and her husband, Mike, have two children, Michael and Lorena.

She has been employed with TBH for the past 18 years, beginning her tenure with TBH at the age of 14 as a volunteer candy striper. She has held a variety of nursing positions within the hospital, including surgical nurse and manager of the medical/surgical department.
 

BUSINESS BRIEFS: Tony Lombardi, PT

Receives Two Certifications - November 12, 2003

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that Anthony J. Lombardi, Physical Therapist, is now certified as competent in the method of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy of the Spine, after completing the course and passing the manual exam offered by The McKenzie Institute in August. The exam was offered in Cleveland.

 

Prerequisites for taking the exam included four separate courses over a minimum of two years to ensure practice and refining of techniques. These courses addressed pathologies of lumbar, cervical, and thoracic spine.

 

A resident of Milan, Lombardi has four children and has been employed with TBH for seven years.

COMPLETE SPIROMETRY TRAINING COURSE - November 11, 2003

 

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) has announced that

have recently completed spirometry technician training certification.

The course was offered through Occupational Pulmonary Services, the Center for Occupational Health, and the University of Cincinnati, and was held in early April.

Employees of The Bellevue Hospital’s Occupational Health Center, Andrews and Franks are now certified to test for pulmonary function, including full lung capacity and volume.

 A resident of Bellevue, Andrews has two children, five stepchildren, 11 grandchildren, and has been employed with TBH for three years.    A resident of Green Springs, Franks has two children and five grandchildren, and has been employed with TBH for four years.

EARNS TWO HOSPITAL CERTIFICATIONS- October 15, 2003


The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Patient Accounts Manager Jody Forney has completed and passed the requirements to become a Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H), and has also successfully passed the Medical Association of Billers exam.
 

Forney received her first recognition from the American Association of Professional Coders, after completing a one-year independent study program. Her second recognition was earned by passing the Medical Association of Billers exam, earning her the designation of Certified Medical Billing Specialist (CMBS).
A resident of Sandusky, Forney has one son, Chad. She has been employed with TBH for the past four years.
 

BUSINESS BRIEFS: Patricia Dick, R.R.T.

BECOMES REGISTERED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST - July 16, 2003 

The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Cardiopulmonary Department employee Patricia Dick, RRT, recently passed the state boards and has become a registered respiratory therapist.

She completed the written and clinical simulation examinations, demonstrating professional competence in this field at the advanced level, fulfilling the educational and experience requirements for qualification as a respiratory therapist as mandated by The National Board of Respiratory Care.

A resident of Bellevue, Patricia and her husband, Rodney, are parents of one daughter, Kaley. She has been employed with TBH for the past year.

BUSINESS BRIEFS: Deb Freeman

RECEIVES TWO DEGREES FROM BOWLING GREEN - July 16, 2003

The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Finance Department employee Deb Freeman recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with a  bachelor of science degree in business administration, and an associate of applied business degree in computer science technology. Both degrees were awarded from Bowling Green State University.

Freeman is an accounting assistant in the hospital’s Finance & Information Systems Department.

A resident of Bellevue, Deb and her husband, Jack, have two daughters, Dana and Lisa. She has been employed with TBH for the past nine years.

BUSINESS BRIEFS: SIEGER, KEEGAN

COMPLETE P.A.C.E. PROGRAM - June 12, 2003

 

                                                                                                                                                                          The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Denise Keegan, PTA, and Aleta Sieger, PTA, employees with The Bellevue Hospital’s Physical Therapy Department, have completed The Arthritis Foundation’s P.A.C.E. Leader/Instructor Program.

P.A.C.E., which stands for “People with Arthritis Can Exercise, is a program now being offered through The Bellevue Hospital’s Physical Therapy Department.

Sieger and Keegan both attended the two-day continuing education program and workshop at Kent State University.

Sieger (right in photo) has been employed with TBH for over 15 years, while Keegan (left in photo) has been an employee of TBH for over 10 years. Both are residents of Bellevue.

EARNS DEGREE IN BIOLOGY - May 8, 2003

The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Anita Dagg, MT (AMT), laboratory coordinator, has received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Toledo.

Dagg has been employed with The Bellevue Hospital for the past 17 years. Her duties as hospital laboratory coordinator include administrative and technical work.

Before being employed full-time by TBH, Dagg completed an internship with the local facility. A native of Curtis, OH, Dagg currently resides in Lindsey.

COMPLETES MAMMOGRAPHY REGISTRY COURSE - May 8, 2003

The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Janie Latham, RT (R) (CT) (M), a radiographer with the local facility, has recently passed a mammography registry course and is now certified for mammography through the American College of Radiology and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.

Latham met the standards and qualifications that include satisfaction of the year 2003 clinical experience requirements and passed the examination conducted under the authority of the Registry.

A resident of Vickery, Latham has been employed with TBH for the past nine years.

COMPLETE RN FIRST ASSISTANT INITIAL COURSE - May 8, 2003

The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Linda VanDyke, RN/CST, and Kara Seamon, RN, have recently completed the first semester of a Registered Nurse First Assistant course, consisting of 60 hours of continuing education in perioperative nursing didactic instruction. The course prepares students to become first assistants in surgery.

Professional Assistants PRN, Naples, Fla., provided the course in collaboration with Southwest Florida College.

Registered nurses who specialize in operating room nursing and receive this additional education have been officially recognized by the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses, the American Nurses Association, the American College of Surgeons, and State Boards of Nursing as qualified to assist the surgeon during surgical procedures.

RECEIVES “WOMAN OF EXCELLENCE” AWARD - May 8, 2003

The Bellevue Hospital has announced that Cardiopulmonary Department employee Terry Webb, R.R.T., recently received a 2003 “Woman of Excellence” Award for her community volunteer work.

An annual event since 1989, the Woman of Excellence Awards are presented by Firelands Regional Medical Center. Webb’s nomination came through the American Lung Association.

Webb is an active volunteer with the Lung Association and is a member of the Tobacco Education Awareness Management program. She works with several anti-smoking programs for all age groups.

 She is also a Freedom from Smoking facilitator and a schools facilitator for the Word of Mouth Tobacco Education program. She is a Certified Tobacco Cessation Education Councilor and is a facilitator for the Not-On-Tobacco program.

A resident of Collins, Webb has been employed with TBH for the past 12 years.
