JILL KEREKES M.D. JOINS STAFF OF BALL MEDICAL CLINIC

and The Bellevue Hospital

August 20,  2005  --

A Cleveland-area native is the newest active medical staff member of The Bellevue Hospital (TBH).

Jill M. Kerekes, M.D. has also joined the staff of Ball Medical Clinic, effective Sept. 6, 2005.

It has been a hectic past three months for Dr. Kerekes, who recently completed her medical residency program, planned her Sept. 3 wedding, and accepted her new job in Bellevue.

A former high school runner in track & field and cross country at Brush High School, Dr. Kerekes is prepared to “hit the ground running” in her new position.

“I went into medicine because I like people, and I am ready to begin,” said Dr. Kerekes, who still finds time to run in 5K race events every now and then.

“And, everyone has been so friendly and the new hospital is so beautiful. I am very excited to be here.”

So excited in fact, that she begins her new job just three days after her marriage to Jeff Bean, D.O., a sports medicine physician with Northern Ohio Medical Specialists. “We are going to take a long weekend and then we both go back to work on Monday. We plan on taking our officials honeymoon next year sometime,” added Dr. Kerekes, who will specialize in pediatrics and internal medicine.

Originally from Lyndhurst, OH, Dr. Kerekes did her undergraduate studies in biology and women’s studies at Boston University, Boston, MA, where she graduated summa cum laude.

She then obtained her medical degree from The Ohio State University in June, 2001 before completing her combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency program at Loyola University Hospital, Maywood, IL.

“Growing up, I always wanted to be a nurse because my mom was a nurse,” continued Dr. Kerekes. “But my parents encouraged me to become a doctor instead. I thought about it and liked the fact that doctors get to be more involved with patient care and get to spend more time with the patient, so I went to Boston U. to study biology with the intent of going into medical school.”

Following her residency program at Loyola University Hospital, Dr. Kerekes contacted a recruiter to help her land a job in the area.

“In May, the recruiter put me in touch with Marvin (Rettig), the director for development at TBH. He put me in touch with doctors Ben (Ball) and Amy (Alt-Coan) at the Ball Medical Clinic and then I came for a visit. By the end of June, I had moved to the area and I finally accepted an offer in July.”

Dr. Kerekes is currently accepting new patients of all ages, from infants to adults. “The neat thing for me is that I can care for whole families, kids to adults. With many pediatricians, they care for the children through the age of 16 or 18 and then those patients have to choose a family doctor. With my pediatrics and internal medicine specialties, I can care for patients from birth through adult life.”

“I really like working with kids. They are so much fun. They always seem to have the best spirit, the best outlook on life. They always bounce back, and they make me laugh.”

Added Dr. Kerekes, “I also like to stress wellness to my patients - that adults need to see a doctor for check-ups or physicals on a regular basis. Don’t wait until something ‘big’ happens before going to your family physician. I talk to my patients about preventive medicine, and I also like to remind my patients to eat right, stop smoking, and exercise regularly.”

Dr. Kerekes can be reached at the Ball Medical Clinic, 1971 West Main Street, Suite A, Bellevue, phone number 419.483.7240. She is accepting new patients as of Sept. 6, 2005.
