Hospital Responds to Concealed Carry Law; Sets
Parameters The new law, which takes effect April 8, allows private entities, such as the hospital, to ban handguns on their premises. The hospital’s administrative team has approved a policy
prohibiting ALL firearms, including concealed
handguns, in hospital facilities or on any of the hospital
premises. All individuals, even those with a license to
carry a concealed weapon, are included in the hospital’s
weapons ban. The only individuals permitted to carry a firearm on hospital premises are law enforcement officers. Signs have been posted at all entrances of the hospital
and all other hospital buildings announcing the prohibition
of firearms, and that the hospital will prosecute all
violators. The hospital also believes the policy prohibiting
firearms and weapons reinforces its commitment to the
communities it serves. |
