Cancer Resource Center

Now Available at The Bellevue Hospital

August 27, 2004  --

Michael Winthrop, president and CEO of The Bellevue Hospital, and Deb

Jordan, Health Promotions Coordinator of the Sandusky County Unit of

the American Cancer Society, show off some of the brochures and

pamphlets available at the new Cancer Resource Information Center at

The Bellevue Hospital.

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) and the American Cancer Society (ACS) are working closely together to enhance the information readily available to area residents concerning the different types of cancers, their signs and symptoms, and possible treatment options.

The new Cancer Resource Center is located near the visitor’s elevator in the main waiting room area at TBH, and has a variety of information available about cancer, tips on avoiding the likelihood of getting cancer, and resources that are available.

Deb Jordan, Health Promotions Coordinator of the Sandusky County Unit of the ACS, is delighted to be working with TBH on this worthwhile project.

“I really am thrilled that TBH is offering all of this material, making it available to those who need it,” said Jordan. “This type of display is so good and the materials offered are timely and important. For those with cancer, they should not have to go through it alone. This type of information – cancer prevention, cancer facts - can certainly help.”

Jordan noted that she is working with TBH officials to develop additional cancer resources, including a Cancer Support Group, and a display that will have information about area ACS resources and contacts.

Additional cancer resource information can be obtained by phoning the Ohio Call Center toll-free at 1-888-227-6446, or logging on to the ACS website at .

For additional information on The Bellevue Hospital’s Support Group, contact Gretchen Miller-Franklin LSW, MSW, at (419) 483-4040, Ext. 4440.
