Chloe Rai Chapman gave all the other babies
three days to become the first baby born at The Bellevue Hospital’s (TBH)
Family Birthing Center (FBC) in 2010, but when none of them took advantage of
the opportunity, Chloe made her grand entrance at 8:32 a.m. on January 4 to
take the title.
Chloe is the daughter of Jessica Tipton and Tim
Chapman of Port Clinton. She was a “planned delivery,” born by Cesarean section
and delivered by Corey Fazio, D.O., a member of TBH’s active medical staff and
on staff of Great Lakes Physicians.
The
first child for Tim and Jessica, Chloe came into the world at 6 pounds, 6
ounces and was 20 ½ inches in length.
“We had
no idea when we arrived at 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 4 that Chloe would be the first
baby born at TBH in 2010,” noted Jessica, whose actual due date was Jan. 14.
“Because of a car accident a few years ago when I broke my pelvis, Dr. Fazio
had scheduled me for a C-section quite a while ago, so we knew Jan. 4 would be
the day. We just did not know that Chloe would be the New Year’s baby!”
Maternal grandparents are Joann & Ron Crowson, Marblehead, and Doug Tipton,
Florida. Maternal great-grandfather is Joseph Pate, Fairborn. Paternal grandparents
are Jan & Keith Cultice, Marblehead, and the late Warren Chapman. Paternal
great-grandmothers are Shirley Crennan, Oak Harbor, and Grace Wilson,
Marblehead.
Both parents were overjoyed at the new addition to their family. “I just cried
and cried happy tears,” added Jessica. “Once she was out, she was just so real
and I was so happy.” Added the proud new daddy, who observed the birth and had
the opportunity to cut the umbilical cord, “All I could say was, ‘She’s here,
she’s here!’”
In recognition of being the first baby born at
The Bellevue Hospital in 2010, Chloe will receive a $200 savings bond from the
hospital, a free infant massage class from TBH, free fitness classes for mom
from TBH and instructor Mandi King, free yoga classes for mom compliments of
TBH and instructor Karen Branco, and several gifts from the hospital Gift Shop.
Chloe also receives various gifts from local
merchants, including Downtown Florist, Hogue’s IGA, Bassett’s Market, CVS, ACE
Hardware, Dendinger’s, First National Bank, Woodard Photographic, The Bellevue
Gazette, Churchill’s Gifts at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, Tranzitionz Salon
& Spa, and the Bellevue Fire Department.
