Those coming in for recurring outpatient
visits to TBH’s Lab or Family Birthing Center (FBC) can
sign up, according to Marianne Schoen, Director of
Revenue Cycle & Quality Management.
“The goal of this program is to make it more
convenient for our patients,” explained Schoen. “If they
are coming to the Lab or FBC, for the same test and for
the same reason, then we can sign them up for recurring
patient status. What that means is that they only have
to register once per quarter with our Patient Access
Department. Then, they simply go right to Lab or FBC for
their tests without having to register each time.”
Schoen noted that this program was prompted
by a suggestion of a patient who needed an ultrasound
twice a week to monitor a difficult pregnancy. The
mother-to-be questioned why she had to take time and
register for every visit.
“That was a case where the patient was
coming in for the same test, for the same reason, two or
three times a week. As a staff we saw an opportunity to
make things easier for our recurring patients and so
far, the program has been very successful and our
recurring patients are very happy,” added Schoen.
She noted that since Feb. 1, over 300
recurring patients have taken advantage of the new
program.
“Our goal is to one day expand this program
to all recurring patients in all of our outpatients
departments,” noted Schoen.
Recurring patients interested in the program
should contact Outpatient Registration or the Main Desk
personnel on their next visit to TBH.
