Community Programs Title

The Bellevue Hospital Diabetes Education Department provides specialized education to help children and adults with diabetes maintain healthy lifestyles. Topics include diet, exercise, medication, education, and monitoring. The department staff can be reached at 419.483.4040, Ext. 4442 to answer any diabetes-related questions.


The Bellevue Hospital’s Diabetes Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the East Conference Room at The Bellevue Hospital, 1400 W. Main St., Bellevue.

The support group is free and open to the public. Topics for future monthly meetings are generated by ideas from those who attend the programs.

Diabetes Self-Care & Review is held quarterly from 9-11 a.m. in The Bellevue Hospital's Conference Rooms A&B. Session focus on nutrition, medication, exercise, handling unexpected illness, and other issues of diabetes self-management. Participants also learn about the 5 M’s of diabetes care: motion, monitoring, meals, medication, and management.

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) sponsors this quarterly program, open to anyone with diabetes, their family members and caretakers.
Participants learn how to prepare meals that are healthy, easy to prepare, and taste good. Recipes will be demonstrated and participants will have the opportunity to taste each one. Participants will also learn up-to-date information on nutrition, meal planning, exercise, and how to understand common diabetes related medical tests. Recipe booklets and handouts are given to each participant.
