First Baby Born 2006

at The Bellevue Hospital

January 1, 2006--

Baby Taryn Leigh Schwalenberg became the first baby born at The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) in 2006, and was also the four-county area's (Sandusky, Seneca, Erie, Huron) Baby New Year as well.

Taryn is shown with her parents, Justin and Amy, and big sister Brynn. Presenting a $200 U.S. Savings Bond on behalf of TBH is Michael K. Winthrop, president and CEO of the hospital (left), and Karen Gehring, with the hospital's Gift Shop, who presented a baby blanket and pillow and ceramic bank to Taryn.

Even though she was technically a week late arriving into the world, baby Taryn Leigh Schwalenberg’s timing could not have been better.

By missing her due date of Dec. 25, arriving instead at 2:35 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2006, Taryn became The Bellevue Hospital’s (TBH) first baby of the new year, and the four-county area’s (Sandusky, Seneca, Erie, Huron) Baby New Year as well.

Taryn was delivered by Dr. Abeer Ahmed and weighed in at 8-pounds, 9-ounces, and was 21 3/4 inches in length. She is the second daughter of Amy (27) and Justin (25) Schwalenberg, Twp. Rd. 178, Bellevue. The couple also has a two-year old daughter at home, Brynn Avery.

Maternal grandparents are Dorene & Al Frost, Bellevue. Paternal grandparents are Karl & Lisa Schwalenberg, Waterville. Maternal great-grandparents are John & Nancy Keith, Clyde. Paternal great-grandparents are Ray & Mary Lou Brickner, Findlay, and Audrey Schwalenberg, Tiffin.

Even though the hospital’s Family Birthing Center (FBC) was a happening place in the time leading up to New Year’s Day, all expectant mothers delivered before midnight on Dec. 31st, with TBH’s last baby of 2005 being delivered at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Amy arrived to the FBC around 6 p.m. and delivered at 2:35 a.m.

In recognition of being the first baby born at The Bellevue Hospital in 2006, Taryn will receive a $200 savings bond from the hospital, a free rental car seat from the Kiwanis Club of Bellevue, a free infant massage class from TBH, free aerobics classes for mom from TBH, and gifts from the hospital Gift Shop.

As the first baby born in the Bellevue City School District, Taryn also received various gifts from local merchants, including ACE Hardware, Bassett’s Market, The Bellevue Gazette, CVS Store & Pharmacy, Dendinger Brothers Service Station, First National Bank, Hogue’s IGA, Pamida Store, Churchill’s Gift Shop at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, Schindley’s Flower Shop, Melissa Warner Massotherapy, Woodard Photographic, and Tranzitionz Salon & Spa.
